This is the official story of the successful 2016 Guinness World Record to fly a balloon in every one of the 50 U.S. states.

Starting in Louisville, Kentucky, the British team fronted by the chief pilot of Exclusive Ballooning, the World’s leading aerial marketing firm, began a journey which would take them 21,000 miles in a little over six weeks. With flights in snow, desert, islands, and the challenging wooded New England, variety would keep them on their toes. On the road, at around 500 miles per day on top of the flying, tea would keep them awake.

This is the behind the scenes account day by day of the preparation (very little) and all 43 days of the adventure which ended with a flight in Waimea, Hawai’i on March 24th 2016. A ratified Guinness World Record for the fastest time to fly a hot air balloon in every state, it was also the first time this had ever been done.
